Until voice recognition becomes more sophisticated, typing will remain an essential skill for everyone to learn and develop. In Class 2 we are going to get even better at knowing where letters are on the keyboard, these games can help us to do this.
Welcome back, I hope everybody had a good half term holiday.
This term our new topic is journeys.
We are starting this topic off by making a journey of our own to the National Railway Museum in York this Wednesday. Children need to be at school for 8:45am Wednesday morning, don’t forget to wear your uniform and bring a packed lunch.
Do you know how a shadow is formed?
Yesterday in Science, Class 2 were learning about shadows, we learned how shadows are formed and how they change depending on where the sun is in the sky. We found that shadows were shortest at midday, when the sun is at the highest point in the sky, right above you. We went outside to try and find some of our own shadows.
Today we were extremely lucky to have the firemen come and visit us with their fire engine. They gave us a presentation about house fires and how to stay safe. We learnt that if our clothes were on fire we have to Stop, Drop and Roll! Bailey-Jay did a fantastic demonstration for us. We also learnt the number we must ring if we need the fire brigade and how important it is for us to know our house numbers and street name, in case we ever need to ring for the fire brigade. The children got the chance to look at the fire engine and even sat inside it!
Today children in Class 2 have been using clay to make their own pottery. The children designed their pottery last week in Art & Design, we had some quite adventurous designs such as the Eiffel Tower, volcano’s, snakes, birthday cakes, vases, pots and lots of other ideas. Next week we will paint our pottery once it has dried.
Have a look at the children making their designs below.
This term Class 2 are learning about Traditional Tales in their literacy and topic work. This week we have talked about the legend that is Robin Hood. We talked about him being a local hero, only living down the road in Sherwood Forest, hundreds of years ago. We tried to name as many traditional tales as we could in literacy.
Can you think of any?
